The Case for Whole Foods

Jan 26, 2023

The term “whole foods” has become a buzzword of sorts in the health and wellness space. At Aubergine Kitchen, we lead with the belief that whole foods provide us with the purest, most complete form of nutrients that foods have to offer. By focusing on a whole foods diet, we ensure that all of our customers leave their table nourished with essential nutrients for life.

Because cooking with whole, unprocessed foods is one of the core principles championed by our founders and upheld in each of our restaurants, we feel obligated to scrutinize the efficacy of the whole foods argument. We’ve done our research, and have found answers to the most fundamental questions on the subject.

What Are Whole Foods?

To put it simply, whole foods are foods that have not been processed. This means that these foods do not contain added sugar, fat, salt, or any other additives. It also means that whole foods retain their full measure nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and other components that are often stripped when food undergoes processing.

Is a Whole Foods Diet Actually Beneficial?

The obvious benefit to eating a whole foods diet is that we consume the full measure of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients available in food. Fiber is a macronutrient found most abundantly in whole foods, and is extremely beneficial for healthy heart function, healthy weight maintenance, and digestion. Micronutrients (such as vitamins and minerals naturally occurring in whole foods) are essential for human physiological functions such as disease prevention, digestion, and anti-inflammation.

The proven benefits that come from eating whole foods suggest that the more prevalent whole foods are in our diet, the better equipped our bodies are with essential nutrients to support a healthy lifestyle.

Whole Foods in Practice

At Aubergine Kitchen, we are dedicated to providing customers with the full measure of nutrients that whole foods provide, without the nonessential additives contained in processed foods. On our menu, you’ll find vegetables, grains, and other whole foods in their purest form—even in our sauces and dressings, which are all made from scratch.

We understand the importance of using whole, unprocessed ingredients, and want everyone who dines with us to experience the peace of mind that comes from our promise to use whole foods containing the essential nutrients for a healthy lifestyle.
