At Aubergine Kitchen, we’re always looking for ways to offer our customers the healthiest and most delicious meal options. That’s why we were excited to read about the Mediterranean-MIND diet in a recent article from CNN. This diet has been shown to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and offers a great opportunity for us to incorporate healthy meal options into our menu.

 

The Mediterranean-MIND diet combines the principles of the Mediterranean and DASH diets, which emphasize whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and fish. It also limits red meat, butter, and processed foods, while including healthy fats such as olive oil and avocado. According to the article, following this diet can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s by up to 53%. That’s huge!

 

A statement in the study also said, “People who scored highest for adhering to the Mediterranean diet had average plaque and tangle amounts in their brains similar to being 18 years younger than people who scored lowest.”

 

As a restaurant that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, we have always placed a high value on using fresh, wholesome ingredients. We are excited to incorporate the principles of the Mediterranean-MIND diet into our menu in new and innovative ways.

 

One way we plan to do this is by offering a variety of whole grain options such as quinoa and blend wild, brown, and red rice. We can also offer a wide range of vegetable-based dishes, such as roasted root vegetables, fresh greens, and a range of vegetables. We offer lots of cruciferous  what makes the dishes so rich.

 

We also incorporate healthy fats into our menu by using only extra virgin olive oil in our cooking and offering dishes that include avocado and nuts, such as salads and sandwiches. In addition, we also offer plant-based protein options such as baked falafel and tofu. We also avoid using processed foods in our recipes.

 

By incorporating the principles of the Mediterranean-MIND diet into our menu, which align with the food principles we follow, we are not only offering delicious and healthy meal options to our customers but also promoting brain health and reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
